Chun-Li

Chun-Li is a character from the Street Fighter series, and the first female playable character to appear in a fighting game. She first appeared in Street Fighter 2.

Chun-Li was born in March 1, 1968, in China. She was an Interpol investigator who had been searching for clues about the mysterious disappear of her father. She learned that he was killed by M. Bison, leader of the mysterious crime syndicate, Shadaloo. She swore vengeance. Chun-Li chased Bison in all tournaments, he had held, usually working with Guile and Cammy. When he was finally dead, she started to train young orphans in martial arts.

Chun-Li uses Chinese martial arts in battle. Her special moves are mostly concentrated about kicks. Her signature move is the HyakuretsuKyaku, commonly known as the Lightning Kicks, in which she repeatedly kicks her opponent from a standing position. Her other primary attack is Spinning Bird Kick. Chun-Li will jump up, feet first in the air, and do a split. She will then twirl her upside down body and attack with her legs like helicopter blades. Chun-Li's trademark projectile is Kikoken. Her most famous Super Attack is Kikosho.

By gather chi in her hands, Chun-Li will release a big ball of energy.

Chun-Li's hairstyle is called "ox horns", a typical style in which Chinese children dress their hair. She wears the qipao. Her outfit is modified to allow a far wider range of movement than a normal qipao. She also wears white combat boots and blue leotard with dark brown sheer pantyhose with her qipao. Her qipao is blue with golden accents.

Chun-Li is portrayed by Ming-Na alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme in the live action movie, released in 1994. After being captured by M. Bison, she is dressed in a red qipao. Ming Na played a reporter in this movie, instead of an Interpol agent. In the 2009 film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, she is portrayed by Kristin Kreuk.
